Student Life

Equity and Inclusion

New Hampton School aspires to be a school where all are known, cared for, and feel that they belong. We take active steps to create an environment in which the identities and cultural backgrounds of our families, students, and employees are valued and respected.

We have a range of programming and resources available throughout the year for our community, spearheaded by the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) team, the Student Life Office, and the Dean of Faculty office.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to either our Director of DEIB, Maggie Gilman, or our DEIB Coordinator, Tiffany Corselli.

Maggie Gilman, Director of DEIB

Our mission is to create an inclusive community. We believe our differences are a source of strength.

Finding Our Voices

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Each year, we use this “day on,” to explore various topics of race and engage in campus-wide discussions. The program features outside speakers who touch on various topics including the importance of being involved, telling your story, and being a social change agent. Students also attend student-led workshop sessions that cover topics including:

The History of Eugenics
Social Activism with Photography
Changemakers in Professional Sports
Reggae to Rap: The Power of Protest in Music
Journey of F-1 Visa Processing: How is Race Involved

Strength in Numbers

New Hampton School is proud to collaborate with other prep schools in the Lakes Region for a range of events, such as the Love Wins Unconference at Holderness School, the Asian American Footsteps Conference, and the Diversity Hiring Conference.

Black History Month

Programming during Black History Month differs each year and much is driven by the Black Affinity Group. Through presentations at School Meeting, displays throughout campus, and other signature community events, we pay tribute to the many African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.

Women's History Month

What does being a woman in today's society mean to you? This question and more are raised during Women's History Month when the Women's Affinity Group celebrates those who have worked to make positive changes for women in our culture.
